Late for something

Late for something

This is one of those decisive moment shots for me. A second either way and I’d have missed it. I’d have missed her flowing hair. She would have ran past the shop and I missed the moment where something caught her eye. I don’t know what as Sayers was closed, but it makes you wonder what did. This was taken on Friday afternoon. I had a job to do that basically involved walking from the Met Quarter to Albert Dock. I’ve done that many times, but I’ve never done it slowly. I’ve never really taken my time over it. What I found was a very interesting route. I found new things on Mathew to photograph. I enjoyed standing around doing photography, though I still feel a bit nervous about doing that without peoples permission.

I'm with kitten on this - it was big enough to make her hair stand on end.

It reminds me of Robert Doisneau and his series of people in Paris caught with both feet off the floor as they rushed to cross busy roads.

I think the 'core' of the shot is great, but it looks a lot better (IMHO) if the messy and distracting left side is cropped as far as the two people immediately behind the girl, possibly as far as the blue shutter. Makes it tighter and punchier.

great photo. you're right. everything came together at just the right time.

I think it might be the offer of a 'big one' that caught her eye :p
