The Anglican Cathedral

I’m not 100% sure on this one.

    I think maybe the walls of the cathedral are too light. The real thing is a deep red sandstone but from this you may think its a much lighter stoneface.
    I do like this angle and the sky though.

    No, I think you’re right, it is the Anglican Cathedral ;-)

    Looks good to me Pete. I know a few people who might have tried to correct the converging verticals (I know someone who hated them so much that he recent bought a Canon Tilt and Shift lens!), but I like the perspective of this shot as it is.

    a very impressive building - well captured in your image :)

    I’m of the opinion that it hasn’t worked either Pete, for two reasons:

    The angle of the cathedral is wrong in that it’s too front-heavy without showing just how deep the building is.

    Secondly, you’ve pushed the building over to the left (in order to get the railings in?) and I don’t feel there’s a balance there.

    B&W HDR works very well though :)

    Happy New Year!

    excellent use of perspective and great tones - the sky is perfect

    I think including the railings to the right gives you a real perspective of just how enormous that building is. Otherwise you’d have little frame of reference. It instantly shows you the size in comparison to the environmental factors around it.

    I like everything about this one, the perspective, the tones. It gives the church a very good sense of character, like it’s alive…if that makes much sense. ^^;

Have your say
