Chinese New Year #1

Yesterday was the celebration of the Chinese New Year in Liverpool. Town was packed, as usual. Impossible to move and impossible to get good angles. The day started off so foggy you could just about make out the archway from the bottom of Nelson St. Eventually the sun came out and for the 3rd CNY in a row it was a lovely day. I made the conscious decision to not try and take the same photos as I have the past 2 years. I didn’t want to work my way through the crowd to take photos I’ve already got and I’m happy with. So I spent time looking around trying to see what else happens. This isn’t one of those photos. Technically its not even well composed with the bar in it. However its something I’ve been trying to capture for the past 2 years. Happy Chinese New Year.

Still, it creates a feeling of happiness, doesn’t it? One can never see fireworks (even those that chase away bad spirits) without going, “oooohhhh”. I like the shot with the bar in it, gives it less of a studio look.
