HMS Daring at dusk

A tricky shot to get, especially as dusk seemed to go on for over an hour on Saturday night. The real issue was the big tower on the ship as it was brightly lit and every long exposure resulted in that whole area being blown out. So I took a few bracketed shots with a plan to fix them later. For fun I tried out Photoshop CS4’s HDR feature. I’ve used it before but the results always seemed bland. However for this shot I didn’t want something overly HDR’d. I just wanted a shot that had the towers in without being blown out. It worked and I carried on editing in Lightroom.

Amazing saturation Pete, doesn’t look HDR’d at all. Nice one.
