class="pic-text">I visited the Museum of Liverpool on Friday to see the newly opened 1st and ground floor galleries. The Great Port, Liverpool Overhead Railway, History Detectives, and City Soldiers are officially open. Just like the rest of the museum these new galleries are simply fantastic. The show stopper really is the train carriage from the Overhead Railway. It’s set at the height it would originally have ran at. The whole area is setup like part of the original track. It is brilliant and really is a centrepiece for that section of the museum. Below that is the locomotive the Lion. You may remember it from such films as Victoria the Great, The Lady with the Lamp and The Titfield Thunderbolt. The locomotive has been beautifully restored with loving care and attention. Unfortunately the man who worked to restore the train, David Letsch, died recently and never saw his restoration in the museum. He died of cancer but I’m sure his work will be appreciated by many for years to come.

The Museum of Liverpool is now fully open. Go get a coffee from the cafe then sit outside and enjoy the morning winter light shine on the building and 3 graces. Don’t forget to enjoy my photo of the skyline in the cafe *ahem*. Go sit on the train, take in the view from the 2nd floor and most of all spend some time looking and learning about Liverpool. It’s a rich city and this museum really shows that. Well done to everyone who put it together.

Had a bit of snow here today. Just a bit. Its so rare so I grabbed my gear and headed out to bank a load of shots before it was gone. I prefer it when it snows to hours after. I love seeing the Ok so it was freezing cold but can you think of a more amazing cinema in town right now? During the summer its a brilliant venue. Urban Strawberry Lunch (USL) play classic B-movie scifi and horror films like ‘The Day the Earth stood still’ and ‘Nosferatu’. Theres nothing quite like sitting there watching b-movie scifi. Here’s to 2010 and I hope they continue playing such awesome movies.

Just so you know I’ve got a few of these shots. I’ll get back to the aerial ones soon but as the light was a bit flat I’m going with the dusk/night time photos. I really wish it was here all week so I could bank all the photos I wanted. I had a selection of angles planned but the rain and overcast sky essentially reduced it to 2 key angles. The good thing is that you’ll get to see something different. I’m still riding a high from it. It was something else, some day and some view.

<p
